Sentence Counter questions

How does it decide where a sentence ends?

It uses your browser's built-in language rules, then joins sentences that were split after common abbreviations such as Dr. and e.g. Unusual abbreviations can still be counted as a sentence end, so check the list if a number looks wrong.

What is a good average sentence length?

There is no fixed rule. Many style guides suggest aiming for about 15 to 20 words on average for general readers. A mix of short and longer sentences usually reads best.

Why are sentences over 25 words flagged?

Long sentences are not wrong, but they are often harder to follow. The 25 word mark is a rule of thumb to help you find sentences worth a second look.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is counted in your browser. Your text is not uploaded or stored, and it disappears when you close the page.
