Are my WebP files uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser, on your own device. Your images are not sent to a server.
What quality should I choose?
The default of 90% suits most photos. Choose a lower number for a smaller file, and check the result. Both formats lose some detail, so avoid converting the same image repeatedly.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose. The default is white. Use WebP to PNG if you need to keep transparency.
What happens with animated WebP files?
Only the first frame is converted, because a JPG holds a single image.
Why does my computer save images as WebP?
Many websites serve WebP because the files are small. When you save an image from those sites, you get a WebP file, which some older apps cannot open.
